Bill: Corporal Punishment in Schools Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: Sanctaphrax Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2101

Description[?]:

We believe that children must learn discipline, for without rules to guide, where are their limits? Corporal punishment, such as caning or beating, are of course abhorrent and should not be allowed in any civilised society, but detention is a perfectly acceptable method of punishment.

MessageWe favour keeping the current law as it is. Different methods work differently in different schools and in different communities.

MessageIn no school should beating be allowed, in no school or community. It encourages nothing good, but instead teaches pupils that beating people is the best way.

MessageWe are disappointed that the parties voted in favour of beating children, teaching them that violence is the answer to problems, and that if someone says something you don't like, you smack them one. This is indeed a sad day for Aldegar.

Random fact: Cabinet ministers who disagree seriously with the head of government would usually be expected to resign. Parties within the cabinet may attempt to manoeuvre to replace the head of government though, for example by proposing a new cabinet bill or voting for an early election.
