Current: The government allows private higher education but regulates it to meet nationally set standards.
Proposed: The government allows public and private higher education institutions to coexist with self-regulation for those that are private.

| Message | How are these instiututions to be funded GA? As we currently about to have a student loan system, will this loan include the tuition fees at these government run institutions. If so, we can support this. If these are to be paid for by the general tax payer, then we do not see why people who chose not to go to university should have to pay for those that did choose to go. |

| Message | Which one would take preference? The one we have debated and legislated on, not the one that was created by the implementation of a new proposal and on which we have no laws passed. Public universities should be funded through existing, or about to exist, forms of funding. This bill does not call for additioanl funds for public universities, it merely corrects a discrepancy in which one law allows public universities and another outlaws them. We do ahve opinions on funding, but this bill is not the place to address them. The loans/low-income subsidies/freee tuition bill options would be the place for that. This bill deals with regulation. |

| Message | The existence of public universities requires funding. We are not asking about the funding of students attending the institution, we are asking about the cost of the bricks and mortar (or steel, concrete and glass), the payment of the staff, the purchase of the land etc. Where is all this money going to come from GA? Form the taxpayer's pocket, or from those that will benefit from these institutions? |

| Message | this bill assumes that the funding comes from the students and voluntary donors. however, again please note that Lodamun already has public universities, under another law. Thjis proposal is one on "regulation." also: there was a fully-funded univereityi system for many years. The buildings already exist, this bill doe snot suggest building anything new. |

| Message | Sorry, as I would prefer no public universities, I must work on synchronizing the other law to this one, not the other way around. While the lack of funding is appreciated, we simply do not consider providing education to be a valid duty of the government. |
