Bill: Retirement and Pensions Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: We Say So! Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 2489

Description[?]:

Whilst accepting that the provision of State pension is, for many, an important part of their retirement income, whilst also accepting that many people wish to retire early due to differing circumstances, the Government will, though maintaining the official age of retirement, at full pension entitlement, at age 65, accept that people wishing to take early retirement can do so at age 60. Should any person wish to accept this entitlement they will, however, lose 25% of full pension claim. This entitlement will increase by 5% for each year that a person remains in employment until the age of 65. Public sector workers employed in vital public services (i.e. Police, Healthcare workers, Rescue Services, State education facilities) will be entitled to retirement at age 60 at full pension in acceptance of their vital contribution to society and the economy.
Furthermore, should a person not wish to retire at age 65 but rather continue in full-time employment they will be allowed to do so. The Government will, acknowledging their further investment in the economy and their taxable expenditure, for each additional full economic cycle that they remain in employment, increase their pension entitlement by 1% per annum up to a maximum of 10% above standard entitlement.
At no point will any person(s) be forced to accept retirement by Government decree and thusly forced to accept pension until such a time that they wish. Pensions will not be paid until such time that the person(s) has finally retired from active employment.

MessageEmployment is running at between 90 - 96% throughout the Country. Our intention, by reducing the allowed age of retirement on reduced pension, would not only allow for those wishing to leave the workforce to do so, at reduced cost to the government, but also allow for those who were unemployed more chance of gaining work. Moreover, those wishing to remain in work post 65 would be provided an increased pension in loo of their increased productivity.

MessageWe would have liked to see the bill make accomodations for those who have a need to retire early, such as the disabled, but we will vote in favor regardless.

Random fact: When it comes to creating a Cultural Protocol in a Culturally Open nation, players are not necessarily required to provide a plausible backstory for how the nation's cultural background developed. However, the provision of a plausible backstory may be a factor in whether Moderation approves the Cultural Protocol if players in surrounding nations question its appropriateness for their region of the game map.
