MessageYou're all bloody nutjobs. 750 seats? We can barely manage 400 in Beluzia (by the way, we violated your treaty).

IC: I like the enlarged legislature since it would allow for more smaller parties, like my own, to win seats. Although my party agrees with the Liberal Imperialists in saying that 749 would be a better number since we would then not be able to have tie votes.

Which provision of the treaty are you referring to? And would you be so kind as to direct us to the appropriate bill?

MessageOpposed. Why do we need so bloody many MPs? And can we not at least wait until the Freedom Party returns after this weekend before implementing such wide-ranging constitutional changes?

*sigh*

I guess some people see their moment of power when it is there.

ToDebating the Parliament Act 2101
MessageHow do you define "ridiculously big". It will make it 25% bigger, yes, but I hardly see any disadvantage to that, especially as it allows the peoples' opinion to be better represented. Surely a "Liberty Movement" would support that?

FromCivic Democratic Party
ToDebating the Parliament Act 2101
MessageI stand firmly with the Liberal Imperialists on this. How could a Liberty Movement be against giving the people more say in the government. With a large parliament it will be easier for parties to gain seats through the proportional system and thus allow the parties that the people want in the Federal Parliament to be better represented.

If you have a problem with it, stop your parties from coming over to Beluzia.

Messagewe are of the opinion that it is fairly unneccecery to have THAT many parlimentarians. It will either make debates a quagmire or reduce hordes of MPs to mindless voting machines. Can you even imagine having an orderly discussion with 749 people? It is madness.

Date15:16:42, August 27, 2005 CET
FromLiberal Imperialist Party
ToDebating the Parliament Act 2101
MessageSince all the MPs hardly ever turn up at Parliament at the same time... yes I can. We already have 599 MPs and I hardly see debates turning into "quagmires".

MessageIndeed, and most of the work is done in committees. Most of the time during plenary debates only 50% of the MPs show up (or less), the only times those 749 would be in the Federal Parliament at the same time would be a speech of the Head of State, or a vote.

Random fact: Players have a responsibility to differentiate between OOC (out-of-character) and IC (in-character) behaviour, and to make clear when they are communicating in OOC or IC terms. Since Particracy is a role-playing game, IC excesses are generally fine, but OOC attacks are not. However, players must not presume this convention permits them to harass a player with IC remarks that have a clear OOC context.
