Message | ALSO in this bill it calls for the nationaliseation of ALL industry. NOW seeing as the OPX is a privately run company (it operates on the stock exchange as a political company or advertising firm maybe0 then surely the OPX would have to be nationalised as well if this bill passes. if ALL industry becomes nationalised, so does the OPX, what would happen then if a political party wasnt running the state, but was a part of it? |

Message | Like just about 95% of the bills of the OPX of the last century, this wasn't intended to pass. If it did, the universe would cease to exist because of the internal inconsistencies you pointed out. If socialism suddenly became so popular that this passed, then we'd have to re-assess our current policies (assuming the universe would continue to exist). |

Message | I just really wish the bill had passed, theoretically, OPX would have been nationalised, which, would mean that whom ever controlled the sentate, would controll OPX? Which is just too complicated to consider |

Message | "would mean that whom ever controlled the sentate, would controll OPX?" But the OPX is part of the Senate. So, I'm just guessing here, you could two ways: *Nationalisation isn't so much about the government owning stuff as the people owning stuff which means if the OPX was nationalised, then the OPX has to vote along populist lines (if the people directly own it, they control it and can steer its direction). *If nationalisation is about the government owning stuff, I guess then that any seats that the OPX won would be divided amongst the cabinet. I say the cabinet because presumably the government can operate its own property with a simple majority. If a group of parties are cohesive enough to form government, then they are cohesive enough to alot the OPX's seats, which they effectively own, amongst themselves as they would ministerial portfolios. |
