Bill: Prisoner Education

Details

Submitted by[?]: bran1322 Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2493

Description[?]:

I think we all share the same goal of reducing crime and thus the number of people who become prisoners and we also want to keep government costs such as prison building and expenses as low as possible. Now the concern seems to be about this bill that we don't want to spend government money toward a program that helps a segment of the population that has done harm. For me, the way to stop the expense from criminals is to give them the tools to not have them come back into the system. They will learn how to reintegrate back into the real world and with new skills learned they will add cheap workers to the Capitalist economy. I would also add that it is important to permit as a civil rights matter to let what many would deem a lower class of people the right to obtain knowledge.

MessageI sort of disagree on it being a civil rights matter.
But, I do agree that rehabilitation training is necessary for proper reintergration to society. Shaming theory suggests that punishment and liminality without a means of reacceptance will breed further dissatifaction and a willingness to commit more acts of deviance.

Random fact: Particracy does not allow real-life brand names (eg. Coca Cola, McDonalds, Microsoft). However, in the case of military equipment brand names it is permitted to use simple number-letter combinations (eg. T-90 and F-22) borrowed from real life, and also simple generic names, like those of animals (eg. Leopard and Jaguar).
