| President Ricard has received the following message from a Deltarian party: "Due to economic crises and a lack of control over our dissenting military, we have found it neccessary to invade your country and pillage your lands. We sincerely hope that this will not cause a strain in Deltarian-Jelbanian relations. Your friends, The Deltarians" http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/viewbill.php?billid=158968 The text of the above bill (which has not been voted upon) in Deltaria is as follows: "RECOGNISING that the mainstay of any nation is her Armed Forces, and that de facto control over the Armed Forces is de facto control over the Nation. RECOGNISING that the annual funding of half a million Telars allocated to the military is grossly below what is neccessary to maintain our million-man standing army. ACCEPTING that if the Armed Forces starve, they shall desert, pillage, loot, and inevitably fall into open rebellion and institute a militaristic Coup d'Etat, destroying all semblence of democracy in our fair and free nation. We hereby have no choice but to present a FORMAL DECLARATION OF WAR apon the République Fédérée de Jelbania, so that our troops may loot and pillage Jelbania for food and supplies, rather than their motherland. The aims of this war will be simply to distract the Armed Forces long enough to institute a sensible defence expenditure, with the goal of effecting a Status Quo Ante Bellum peace once our troops can be paid from Governmental Revenue. In accordance with the Rildanor Accord, this declaration of war requires a 50% majority to pass. Veto power is held by the Prezident, as well as the SSK and SzDD. However, if veto power is utilised, or if this bill should otherwise fail due to lack of support, we must warn that we will have no choice but to unilaterally declare civil war, to prevent outright revolution." Minister of Defence Félix Chatal proposes that we begin military exercises with our troops and quickly send them to our border with Deltaria. We will not stand for invasion of our country for any reason. We will show any nation who wishes to put Jelbania at risk that we will do whatever necessary to protect our people, our land, and our resources. The failure of that nation to adequately provide for its military should not put Jelbania at risk. We will use whatever force is necessary. |
