Bill: Tree Replacement
Details
Submitted by[?]: Irish Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 2495
Description[?]:
Businesses that make it their business of cutting down our precious and limited supply of trees should have to re-plant every tree for every one that they cut down. I think this is perfectly reasonable because it will keep our economy very strong as we will virtually have an unlimited supply of trees if this law comes into effect, which is good for the businesses and for the environment. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The government's policy on tree plantation.
Old value:: Local governments may set plantation policy.
Current: Local governments may set plantation policy.
Proposed: The government requires tree plantation at replacement level for all logging or clearance operations.

Message | "Whilst the Irish Party is incorrect regarding the claim that Zardugal shall have an 'unlimited supply of trees', the bill is in the right spirit. This will deliver what Zardugal needs to preserve its ecology, and save the dwindling forests that once stretched across the land. The Revolutionary Socialist Party in fact would like to see this principle carried further, mandate that the replantation level exceed the number of trees cut down. This bill does not look like it will endanger any jobs, so it has the Revolutionary Socialist Party's enthusiastic support." -Ulysses Dunikov, Official Spokesman for the Revolutionary Socialist Party |

Message | "We fully agree to this bill, because we have realized the need to act against the climate change. This bill can just be the first step on a long way to reduce our pollution to a level wich is completely harmless. If this bill will pass, we have to talk about further steps." |

Message | "There are Provinces in Zardugal that are absolutely covered in trees. These Provinces will take a more liberal approach to their plantation policy. There are Provinces in Zardugal that have beautiful, ancient forests, wish the government will turn into State Parks. The remaining trees would be logged and replanted according to wishes of the government best informed to command, the local government. Then there are Provinces were trees are scarce, logging will be highly restrictive in these Provinces. The current law gives governments directly responsible for their Province's ecology the power to manage it, the Central Government is nevera better choice to preserve local forestry over the local government." ~Linda Jane, DM |

Message | The climate change happens everywhere, not only where they're caused. Therefore a local government cannot decide on its own because the impact does not only affect them. |
