Message | "We think that the Irish Party should offer some reasons why religions, which pull in far more income than most businesses, organizations, and even countries, should be exempt from all tax. It's a position that is very difficult to argue." -Eugene Heinz-Gerphaldt, Cultural Spokesman for the Revolutionary Socialist Party |

Message | We think, that a religion should not make any profits, which is not for a charitable reason. The church is an important part of our community, and we show great respect for their charitable work. Therefore we do net tax them. But if they earn money just for their representation, which is no advance for the people, we have to handle them like an ordinary company. OOC: By the way: We have a 0% tax on companies at the moment, therefore they have to pay nothing at all in both situations ;) |

Message | "Religious organizations do rake in massive profits, especially large,"recognized" religions. Therefore, in a practical sense, if a corporation tax existed, these Churches would be subject to it. On the issue of principle, I can't for the love of me see why some Belgae bureaucrat should be able to say which religions are accepted by the government, and which are not. It would completely undermine our secular state." ~LP Spokesman for Religious Affairs |

Message | So, taxation on businesses bad, taxation on religion good? Can someone please explain how the current position is tenable? |
Date | 20:31:00, December 03, 2007 CET | From | National Authoritarian Movement | To | Debating the Taxation on religions |
Message | I can explain it to you: The Liberty Party is a stakeholder party for big companies, not a lobbist party for the church or the people. |
