Bill: 2495 All Nations Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Likaton Coalition of the Willing

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 2495

Description[?]:

This Bill is dedicated to Life.

We believe that the life and rights of a mature human female outweigh those of an unborn human being. We recognise, however, that there comes a point where an argument can be made otherwise. In the absence of compelling (to us) evidence that 2nd trimester babies are sentient and self-sustaining enough, we set out that their rights are less than that of the mother to be.

We believe that Likatonia, as one of Terra's foremost nations, should take a lead in abandoning bio-warfare. WE will not use it, we will not develop any aggressive bio-war technology. It ruins the environment, and is needlessly damaging to human life.

We believe that trust begins with us, and to truly gain the trust of other sovereign nations, and of Keymon, we must guarantee that our special ops and secret services will not use aggressive surveillance, and only use countermeasures.

Whilst we are big believers in the LIK, we don't feel we should force poorer nations to accept our goods. Aid should be a gift, not a bargain, and as such we look to raise our status overseas by providing aid where needed.

Finally, we want to remove the dangerous scourge of nuclear weapons from our shores. This Bill is the first step.

OOC: I would ask all players to restrict their debating to Terran and Likatonian issues ONLY. In this context, within this game, I don't give a rats ass about American pro lifers, Roe vs Wade, or any of it. It isn't relevant here. I'm looking at you, CWFP :-)

In Likatonia---[OOC: and in the REAL world (haha)]---IC: statistics point to the fact that TWO out of every 3 babies born are of the FEMALE gender (girls).

Therefore, ~66% of ALL aborted babies are....unfortunately...lil' WOMEN!!! So, the question is for the "Pro-choicers," why should we deny the FEMALE Baby's "right to choose," if you will, to have an abortion???

I mean, everytime a woman aborts a pregnancy, she is (literally) aborting a LIBERAL baby (haha)!!!

MessageThis has nothing to do with gender; if men could get pregnant, we would support their right to abort too.

This is about at what point a womans life and choices become subsidiary to her obligation to her offspring. As we pointed out in the Bill text, we have not heard any compelling evidence for the first and second trimesters, but will concede things get less straightforward in the third.

The IRONY is that the, in reality, the MAJORITY of the those that decide to "choose abortion" arrive at their decision at the MAN's/boyfriend's discretion. For the most part, woman generally WANT to have the baby but they choose to abort b/c of the "peer pressure" from their boyfriend's are not MAN enough to be Fathers [ :( ]!!!!

MessageLet's all remember the Feminazi Party. Those women were pushed around by *nobody*.
It would suggest that Likatonian women are of much stronger conviction than some would give them credit for.

MessageCWFP - actually - it is slightly over 50% female, not 66%. Also - most abortions are actually (statistically) nothing to do with peer group pressure. The vast majority of abortions are actually carried out on people that are already mothers, usually with two children, typically over age 30.

We are curious however... the CWFP seems to believe that all women are 'liberals', and all 'liberals' are women? (Whatever the hell a 'liberal' is supposed to be).

Otherwise - this was a close bill. We like the abortion clause (although we would only have argued for first term), and we quite like the foreign aid article (even though it's not strictly speaking a 'core issue' for us). Unfortunately, you lost us on the authoritarian position vis-a-vis weaponry, and the allowance of continued tech research. If you'd have renounced the research angle, you'd have had us.
