Message | Of course we only wish to inform the people of the true events! |

Message | No, freedom of speech is an absolute right of every person, and we are shocked that the ECP, for all their talk of freedom, won't allow this basic right. If they lie, someone can sue. That is what will prevent lies. |

Message | I thought this meant that, in the case false information is published, and some one sues, their lawsuit will be ruled in favor, sense it is against the law to publish falsehoods. If it isn't against the law, then you can't sue for it. You can't sue someone for doing legal things. That was my interpretation of this law, if you can point out where I am mistaken, I would gladly reverse my vote. |

Message | This act would make it a legal, punishable, arrestable or finable crime to publish a falsehood, which is a violation of the right to freedom of speech. There are already rules to allow lawsuits over falsehoods printed. See: Laws of the Republic of Endralon Article XIV: Civil Liberties Section 14, Libel laws Section 22, Slander laws Section 23, Application of libel and slander laws http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/viewvariables.php?nationid=8#civil%20liberties |

Message | Its quite a grey area... afterall what if the person writing truly believes what they are saying is true? |
Date | 07:19:48, December 04, 2007 CET | From | Social Revolutionary Party | To | Debating the Media Responsibility Bill |
Message | We agree with UE. Freedom of Speech is a basic human right. If lies are published, they can be analysed and proven false in the full media spotlight. |

Random fact: Any RP law granting extraordinary "emergency powers" or dictator-like powers to a government must be passed by at least a 2/3rds majority, but (like all RP laws) may always be overturned by a simple majority vote of the legislature. |
