Message | A message from President Laurent Ricard: "We support these proposals by CUF. But we do not support the demonization of socialism. Parties that may support these policies also may not even be "socialist" - just look to the Progressive Federalists. Also, UCC is not of the belief that socialism is evil or a scourge on our nation. It is a legitimate ideology, however it is not one we espouse. We all are working toward the freedom and security of the Jelbanian people, we just hope to achieve that through different ways. We should be able to disagree on public policies with these political attacks." |

Message | Mr. President: We understand your viewpoint, however we refuse to consider socialism as a legitimate political ideaology. The basis of socialism rests on principles of tyranny against the personal liberties of an individual. A socialist government is always an evil government, because it purports to say what the people want and what they need. A socialist government takes away their freedom of choice and induces them to obey what some politician thinks to be the "best for society". The fact that this ideaology has gained so much support alarms us and induces us to be more forceful in refuting its creeping onset. However, for the benefit of appearances we shall change the name of this act to be something less politically unsavory as a sign of good faith to the UCC. |

Message | We appreciate CUF changing the title of this bill. Please keep in mind that the Socialist Jelbanian Party are democratic socialists and not advocates of some kind of Communist Superstate dictatorship with all the power in a small party committee. |

Message | We are aware that there is a spectrum of socialism, but frankly we believe that moderate socialism is the first step in a foot-in-the-door approach. A slippery slope if you will. The principles of utilitarian socialism are what we are against, for those principles logically lead to a "communist superstate" if you will. No matter how moderate the practical approach, we do not believe an ideaology founded on subjugating personal liberties to what the government percieves to be the "best interest of society as a whole" can be anything other than inherently evil. |

Random quote: "The first step in freeing yourself from social restrictions is the realization that there is no such thing as a 'safe' code of conduct, one that would earn everyone's approval. Your actions can always be condemned by someone, for being too bold or too apathetic, for being too conformist or too nonconformist, for being too liberal or too conservative. So it's necessary to decide whose approval is important to you." - Harry Browne |
