MessageWe see this as being unnecessary and time consuming. The largest party has the best chance of forming a stable government, therefore it is given the first choice to form a cabinet always. If every party is allowed to put forward its own cabinet proposal it will increase the time for agreement to be reached, leaving Likatonia without a government.

MessageHowever, it is possible that we may miss out on valuable ideas if we restrict the commerce of ideas in this fashion. Efficiency in government is not necessarily aligned with liberty; a toltarian dictatorship is very effecient.

MessageResponse to CPL: Why would we miss out on government? Surely we can run on the 'old' government until the new parliament is elected? Wouldn't that even be incentive to ALL the parties to get decisions made as swiftly as possible?

I disagree that the largest party would have the 'best chance' of forming a stable government - they'll just have the most input. As far as this oarty can see, there is absolutely NO reason why a 'mixed' cabinet should be inherently unstable - quite the opposite, in fact. It seems to the Anarch Anakrousite representatives, a combined cabinet serves to UNITE disparate groups, serves to reduce feelings of misrepresentation, serves to give the populace better representation, and creates a potential for more 'balanced' government.

Also - bear in mind that the actual cabinet selection will STILL be democratic - the largest parties will ALWAYS have an advantage.

MessageThat is true to a point, but the largest party will have the best chance of forming a coalition cabinet, and should automatically be given the first choice.

However under your system, a party such as mine, which has no seats currently due to not having participated in an election, will be able to propse a cabinet. This proposal will then have to be debated and voted upon, taking time away from other bills.

The 'old' government does run on until the new Parliament is elected currently, then we could wait several months longer than currently for the new government to form.

However this could be a good thing, and it will certainly boost smaller parties as they are given a more important say. We would be prepared to support this now, certainly for a trial after the net election.

MessageThe AAP takes the CPL concerns under advisement, and will hold bringing this proposal to a vote, until AFTER the next election.

MessageIn theory it is a good idea. However in practice it would mean that no cabinet would pass as each party would be holding out for their own idea - we would be stuck with the old one for years. I understand that the current system is less freedom permitting, but the proposed one would be insanely inefficient.

MessageResponse to the LPE: The majority parties still hold a proportionate amount of leverage, within even combined governments, but this is almost an aside... The current legislation is intended to ALLOW the possibility of such 'combined' cabinets... it seeks in no way to ENFORCE them.
