| Message | We oppose most vehemently. The state pays huge amounts to maintain these prisons - we need to get something back for all that spending. This isn't retribution either. Making a prisoner work is part of rehabilitation and restitution. The main aim of imprisonment is incapacitation however. |

| Message | We believe letting them work is a good way of keeping them busy. It's in fact a form of rehabilitation, they'ld have to work on the outside too when they get out. It keeping their minds of the thought of being there for another 10 years, days seem less long when you are busy. Keeps them from hanging out anf forming gangs. They're giving something back to society, and at the same time may lessen the fiscal burden by partly provinding in the financing of their food and accomodation,... BTW, your proposal is rather unique in all of Terra. No nation even has it as a law (http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/viewvariable.php?variable=PRISON_LABOR): They either choose "Able-bodied prisoners have to work during the day" or "Prisoners can do certain jobs in prison, voluntarily, for a small wage". |
