| Our party, having fled from Sekowo, has a long history as a supporter of linguistic research and education. We believe that a proper evaluation of the myriad of spoken and archaic languages in the Imperium is in order. We hereby propose that the government undertake scientific survey of the languages, present and past, of Dranland, and, when necessary, to describe their phonology, grammar, and syntax. OOC: This survey will entail designing the major languages of Dranland. we've designed several languages, two of them for particracy: http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Pailesian http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Pailesian_Dialects http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Tsekwon They are rather extensive and involve a good deal of linguistic experience. We would like to design the modern, spoken Dranian and perhaps some other archaic languages spoken or studied by the aristocracy. If the legislature approves of this project, we would like your input on the nature of the language, its phonology, grammar, and syntax. Phonology: 1. Syllables a. Simple syllables- like polynesian languages (e.g. "E iai ni fale lelei i te fenua tela") b. Complex syllables with consonant clusters- extreme in Georgian (e.g. "mtsvrtneli" "trainer) 2. Word Length: a. Mostly single syllables- like Chinese b. A variety of longer and shorter words- common, but very long compounds in German or Sanskrit 3. Phonemic Inventory a. Simple set of sounds- like Hawaiian b. Complex, huge range of sounds- like ǃXóõ, with nearly 100 distinct phonemes 4. Accent a. No stress, all syllables pronounced- like Classical Sanskrit and French b. Strong stress, unaccented vowels simplified- like English and Russian c. Pitch accent- like Chinese and Ancient Greek Grammar 1. Isolating/Analytic- Chinese 2. Agglutinative- Turkish 3. Fusional/Synthetic- Latin 4. Polysynthetic- Inuit 5. A mix- English Word Formation 1. No Compounding- French 2. Too much compounding- German (Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz) Then there are also some less easily quantifiable issues: should the language sound beautiful and flowing, or harsh and authoritative? Should the grammar be impressively complex, or elegantly simple? Should there be some general guiding psychological principle to the language? |

| Message | We only have one language in Dranland that that is Dranish, it's basicly a combo of whatever major language is spoken in Egelion and the dead language of the Drenish tribes that the Egelion colonists intermarried with to create the Dranian people. |
