Message | We have 200-channel cable, we have donation-funded channels, faith-based and secular, we have small underground radio stations that are allowed to exist due to the lack of a radio authority - WTF do we need state-funded propaganda? |
Date | not recorded | From | To | Debating the State Funded Media |
Message | To have a channel that's independent of funding. The state channel employees have to swear political independence and the ruling committee even more so. This is a channel devoted to education and culture, not some pre-war propaganda. |

Message | Your talking about USA - in UK we only have 4 other channels. The point is that they are in the pocket of whoever is funding them and there are monopolies of the media eg clear channel and rupert murdoch. A station for the tax-payer funded by the tax-payer. |

Message | How much government control would be applied to programme making? |

Message | No govt control - it is against law in Dorvik to employ govt employees in a political way. They would receive a grant every year to spend on what they wish. Every party gets equal time during election campaigns to make party broadcasts. Apart from that the decisions are upto the govener general, who gets to select what he feels are high quality programming. This gives the element of nurturing talent and originality as opposed to ratings-grabbing stunts. |

Random fact: Party candidates for head of state elections are not visible to the public. This means that you cannot see who will run and who will not, which adds another strategic element to the elections. |
