Message | It is to stop discrimination against homosexuals, to stop forced marriages, or to stop people marrying minors. The RPC seems to lack any concern for vunerble groups in society |

Message | 1. This doesn't stop homosexual marriage. It only strengthens it's cause, by removing any governmental institutions right to pick and choose who and who can not marry. People can marry if they wish, how they wish and when they wish. The state should play no part in it. Do you understand now? Or do I need to draw a diagram? 2. Forced marriages already occur. They're called 'arranged marriages'. You may have heard of them. 3. You're applying a very narrow cultural distinction of marriage and social age to all cases, which anyone with a half a brain realises, is bullshit and ignorant. So, in conclusion, you don't know what you're talking about. Colour me surprised! |

Message | In further support of point 1, you should realise this proposal is entirely compatible with the International Treaty on Gay Rights. Oh my, how silly do you look? :D |

Message | 1. This doesn't stop homosexual marriage. It only strengthens it's cause, by removing any governmental institutions right to pick and choose who and who can not marry. The RPC is scaremonger it seems, they know perfectly well that the government has no right to pick and choose who can marry, and that the current law does not give the government that right, it gives people the right too marry, if they are consenting adults, IE, if they wish to marry. |

Message | I never said that. I said it took away any governmental involvement. Oh and look - DLP avoids everything else again because he knows he's beaten. Come on then, how does it discriminate against homosexual marriage when: a) it's fully compatible with the gay rights treaty b) there would be no institution to tell someone they can't marry a member of the same sex Well? And the point about arranged marriages? Is that too politically incorrect for you? My points stand. I win. |

Message | "Sorry, I meant to say; So you would abolish the institution of marriage?" |
Date | 23:39:06, January 12, 2008 CET | From | Revolucia Partio de Koburo | To | Debating the Marriage Freedom Act |
Message | "Yes, I was asking how you interpreted the phrase 'institution of marriage'. The proposal does nothing more than stop the government issuing pieces of paper. As I said, people can marry as they wish, how they wish, when they wish. If people are in love, I hardly think going through a bureaucrat is needed." |
