Bill: War (2515-2520)

Details

Submitted by[?]: 帝国公明党 (Teikoku Kōmeitō)

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 2521

Description[?]:

It is our sad duty to inform the legislature that the Dranian Imperium has taken measures that constitute an act of war against/on Sekowo.

They have passed legislation to expand there empire to the South, not only infringing upon the sovereign territory of Talmoria, but also on
Lourennian colonies, but most importantly they have already decided to invade the territory we already control as well as the territory
that we are set to begin control of.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Sekowan hereby acknowledges that Dranland has taken actions that constitute an act of war towards the Sekowan Federation
and hereby formally acknowledges that a state of war exists between Sekowo and Dranland.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________

As we are not going to war (yet), we feel that this should be archived.

With the passing of this bill the legislature shall archive this event and discussion.
The passing of this bill shall not in anyway constitute going to war with Dranland at the present time.

MessageWe have no policy of imperialism, if we did Sekowo would control all of Southern Dovani.

Further more there is no 'peaceful resolution', Dranland is not a peaceful nation, and is threatening not only Sekowan territory, but the territory of one of our closest allies.

MessageGood people of Sekowo,

We think that there are much preferable alternatives to war, and that such a rash action might result in untold cataclysm for both of our nations. The core cause of this current crisis is competition for colonial land and an imperialism of which we are both guilty. We in Dranland feared that Sekowo might sweep south and claim a disproportionate area of untouched territory. However, shortly after these fears were expressed in legislation, Sekowo produced promises to cease southward expansion.

Clearly, we both have the same interests, and war would be futile. It would seem most prudent if both of our nations were to solidify our current colonial claims by treaty and promise to cease further expansion until it is mutually agreeable to do so. In fact, a Sekowan-Dranian colonial alliance could serve both parties and bring an age of prosperity to our colonial holdings.

Please consider these alternatives before declaring war. Or, at the very least, allow negotiations.

Lycurgus,
Minister of Defense of Dranland

MessageWhile we praise the AP for their message, we wonder if they represent all of Dranland. We would hate to strike a deal with them only to have the other pro war partys knife us in the back.

MessageA legitimate concern. There are two pro-war parties in Dranland, and they constitute a small minority. The rest are more than willing to hold talks. We'll create a diplomacy bill to prove our nation's devotion to peace.

But please, don't let this bill sit here with a majority in favor for too long...

MessageOn the advice of others, I, John Danzelman, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Protected Zone Agency have allowed Dranland to occupy a small part of the Eastern Protected Zone. However, I acted without the backing of Lourenne's Senate and I consequently state that it no longer has our endorsement.

Sekowo have been a firm friend to Lourenne for many decades. A friendship we would not like to see go to waste.
