Message | If some groups (minorities based on gender, race, physical or psychical disabillities, ...) are discriminated at the market level, government must give this people a chance to rectify these discriminations. |
Date | 22:23:49, January 17, 2008 CET | From | Centre | To | Debating the Positive discrimination |
Message | Centre was here when we abolished these ordinances. We hold that same opinion as then. "Our question, is whether or not the status quo diversifies the workplace. It seems that often you have minimal standards meet in some workplaces and overkill in others. People that are going to be prejudice are going to no matter what. They will just meet the lowest standard and continue on. We need to create a culture that does not promote discrimination. We need to all be seen as Ikradonians and not defined by our race, gender, or sexual orientation. But changing this comes from the bottom up. We need to encourage programs in the community to promote diversity. All this policy does is give the discriminators ammunition to use. They can now say that minorities are clearly inferior because they have to have "Big Daddy" in Magrathea protect them. We have to promote a market that works on merit not on discrimination and you cannot do that by requiring employment quotas and "positive" discrimination." http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/viewbill.php?billid=165147 |

Random fact: In cases where a party has no seat, the default presumption should be that the party is able to contribute to debates in the legislature due to one of its members winning a seat at a by-election. However, players may collectively improvise arrangements of their own to provide a satisfying explanation for how parties with no seats in the legislature can speak and vote there. |
