Bill: DSP.057.2521 (Rights of the Worker)
Details
Submitted by[?]: 帝国公明党 (Teikoku Kōmeitō)
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 2522
Description[?]:
The DSP believes that workers are being denied there rights, therefore we propose the following. Article 1; The whole point of a strike is to get employers to fix a problem, and thusly employers should be forbidden from firing those on strike. Article 2; The current law is barely enough to support a single person let alone a family, therefore we believe this should be changed to insure that people receive a living wage, one on which a family can live. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Employer's rights in regards to firing striking workers.
Old value:: Employers can fire workers who are deemed to have gone on strike without reasonable reasons.
Current: Employers can fire workers who are deemed to have gone on strike without reasonable reasons.
Proposed: Employers cannot fire workers who have gone on strike.
Article 2
Proposal[?] to change The nation's policy on minimum wage regulation.
Old value:: There shall be a minimum wage at a level that a single full time worker on it can adequately subsist.
Current: There shall be a minimum wage at a level that a single full time worker on it can adequately subsist.
Proposed: There shall be a minimum wage at a level considered a "living wage," well above the poverty line for a full time worker.

Message | Article 1: Strongly Oppose. The law states "on strike without reasonable reasons". Workers who go on legal strikes are not allowed to be fired. No reason to change the law. Article 2: Borderline oppose. While the CP agrees with the DSP's argument that the minimum wage is not sufficient to support a family, we feel that introducing this law would not fulfill the requirements of said argument. The CP might consider supporting the third alternative for "The nation's policy on minimum wage regulation" that explicitly specifies the word "family". |
