Message | It is not clear just how much we money we can get by a tax on essential items. We don't propose to keep it, but this is just for informational purposes. Once this passes, we'll submit a bill to abolish it again. It is important we look at all our options in taxation. |

The purpose of this bill is to see how much tax we would bring in if we did enact this form of consumption tax, since there is no viable other way to do it. It is an exercise in information gathering. Sticking your head in the sand and being blind to new ideas is not a good policy. |
