Bill: Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

Details

Submitted by[?]: Junker Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 2111

Description[?]:

We suggest the completion of the tomb of the unknown soldier within our new capital so that we can honor those who died for Aldegar in past and future wars. The building would be completel nonreligious, and its general look would most likely revolve around some sort of marble statuette, in the center of one of our capital's squares, with a never ending flame.

However, the most important aspect which should be considered would be the fact that it would require about forty million to even begin construction and to buy and bring all materials required. Labor costs are estimated to be about another ten million.

Nonetheless, it is something that Aldegar cannot go without.

MessageOn first reading, this Act may sound a well-meaning and innocuous effort to commemorate our war dead. However, we advise Aldegar's politicians to consider the consequences of voting 'Yes'.

The Junker Party openly calls itself 'fascist', and a quick look at their party page tells us that they share organisational memberships with some of the vilest far-right parties in the Particracy World.

If we build the monument the Junker Party requests, the Junker Party's supporters will naturally associate it with the Junker Party and the fascist values it holds. The monument will become, in their eyes, a symbol of extreme nationalism. It will become a shrine to those who want to make war more and not less likely in the future.

Let us recognise this Act for what it is: a fascist ploy. They are trying to pretend that they and the ideology they represent is acceptable. They want to lull us into believing that the word 'fascism' and the name 'Junker Party' are somehow normal.

The Democratic Alliance says NO to fascism and NO to this Act.

MessageFBSP fears that the intention of this bill, which would be expensive to implement, is to glorify militarism and war.

We need to find a way to commemorate our war dead, but on a cross-party, consensual basis free of the stain of fascism. FBSP calls on the Democratic Alliance to bring forward a suitable proposal.

MessageWe are indifferent towards this bill. We appreciate the need to honour those who giv etheir lives for the freedom of others, but understand the concerns expressed by the Democratic Alliance, the FBSP and the PLP. Our vote is still up for grabs if someone can persuade us either way.

MessageAll the Democratic Alliance is doing is helping the Junker Party propegate their "fascist propaganda" because they seem intent on opposing any bill proposed by them. It is to say, the Junker Party works to glorify the people, and by the Democratic Alliance opposing it, they are themselves alienated, making it much easier for ourselves.

They call us fascist, yet they are the ones slowly gaining total control.

MessageWe feel that the Democratic Alliance on this one is jumping to conclusions. We feel this bill is a good idea, a way of honouring the dead of this country, and will not glorify it in any way. In fifty years, what will people remember? The idea itself, or who proposed it?
