Bill: Civil Liberties Protection Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Revolucia Partio de Koburo
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2535
Description[?]:
Complete freedom of speech. The media is still held to high standards, but individuals can say what they want. Like, James Soul has no soul. Or Paul Hackman was born a girl. Or even, the Zarduglian government is a corrupt, cesspit of imperialist, fascist wankers, hell-bent on enslaving Majatra to make up for the fact they have tiny penises. |

Message | Paul Hackman is dead, you can't say that! |
Date | 17:39:02, February 21, 2008 CET | From | Democratic Labour Party of Cobura | To | Debating the Civil Liberties Protection Act |
Message | Indvisuals must be protected from the media printing vile and malicious lies about them. What is to stop the press, which is controlled by the rich elite, on the whole, from printing slanderous lies about people on the left wing of Cobura politics. This is a violation of civil rights, and a violation of an indivisuals right to sue if someone prints lies about them in the press. The press should be about telling the truth, and not spreading lies. |

Message | This has nothing to do with the media you dolt. "There are laws against the publication of false information; everything else may be published freely" These laws are to only apply to individuals in the public domain, where freedom of speech is paramount. |

Message | We know RPC party members want to make outageous and false claims, while mocking everyone who doesn't have as narrow view as they do. We must make sure that lying doesn't continue. |

Message | Nah, that's your job. We never lie. Nor do we have a narrow viewpoint. Again, that's you. I agree though, we need to stop the LRP lying from continuing. |

Random fact: It usually takes up to an hour for election results to generate. During this time, the "Next Election" date is put forward a month, which is confusing. Do not worry! In a short time, the election result will generate and the "Next Election" date will then correct itself. |
Random quote: "Those who are responsible for the national security must be the sole judges of what the national security requires. It would be obviously undesirable that such matters should be made the subject of evidence in a court of law or otherwise discussed in public." - Unattributed member of the the House of Lords on the removal of trade union rights |
