We've introduced this bill before, but we believe that small farms should be given special protection from agricultural conglomerates who would swallow up smaller farms and that caps on farm ownership should be in place to prevent monopolies. |

Message | The greatest efficiency is obtained by not restricting the ability of successful farmers to expand. Those workers no longer required in food production can then be transferred to industrial or tertiary sectors of the economy. I think we should, however, restrict farming practices to endorse organic growth, rather than taxing the planet unncessarily by pumping it full of chemicals. Thus, we cannot support this bill. |

Message | Ultimately what we want is to find a way that small farmers who are down on their luck(farming is often as much luck as it is skill) to be able to compete with larger corporations. If there was a way to make sure both the smaller farmers and the larger agricultural concerns had a place in the nation, that would be our preferred option. This proposal seems like the best way to do that. |
Date | 16:43:44, September 13, 2005 CET | From | Radical Party | To | Debating the Farm Localization Bill |
Message | We feel it is unfair to place regulations on farm size. Cattle ranching requires large farms, and to impose regulations would place severe limits on cattle farmings. |

Random quote: "The first step in freeing yourself from social restrictions is the realization that there is no such thing as a 'safe' code of conduct, one that would earn everyone's approval. Your actions can always be condemned by someone, for being too bold or too apathetic, for being too conformist or too nonconformist, for being too liberal or too conservative. So it's necessary to decide whose approval is important to you." - Harry Browne |
