Message | We agree with the sentiment of caring for our citizens, but are not convinced that drug therapies are necessarily the best route to a healthy population. By subsidising drugs and not preventative measures or alternative treatments, we lock the health service into a pharmaceutical view of healthcare. On these issues, we would supprt a regulation of drug prices, but are not convinced of the need for an R&D subsidy. We would consider a prescription subsidy for low-income households, provided this was not limited to drugs. To the bill as it stands we would have to vote no. |
