Bill: 1 Seat for every 250,000 People

Details

Submitted by[?]: Peasant Party Of Sekowo

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2540

Description[?]:

I think we should enact a ratio of 1 seat for every 250,000 people. It seems fair. If we were to maintain this Ratio on current population census numbers we are looking at 631.783224 seats.

MessageWe prefer keeping the Folkstamma to a size which is easy to make calculations with. Also,

We prefer 600 as a mathimatically ideal number, as it divides quite well by both 2 and 3. Additionally, an ever-increasing Folkstmma means ever-increasing government costs. Finally, we are already moderately close to the maximum size the Folkstmma could be, and it is possible that this bill would require it to exceed that size at some point.

Though, we do admit that the idea has merit.

Messagehmm ... it would cap out at 187,500,000 in population. That's still a long time from now. A guess would be several Sekowan decades.

I would prefer seeing a 1 per 300,000. That would make more long-term sense. 225,000,000 population.

Nevertheless, we are leaning towards agreeing however, we want the PPS to propose how often we will update this seat count and the procedures to be included in this bill BEFORE voting. (e.g. every 10 years, re-seat)

MessageNot even as in 2,4, 6, 8 etc, like 600 or 650, that kind of even.
