Bill: CPL Police Support Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: Conservative Liberal Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 2110

Description[?]:

We propose that the military may be called in to help the police force in serious emergencies. This is because of police overstretch, the Armed Forces will from time to time be needed to back up the police forces.

The following situations, we feel, create the need for the Armed Forces to back up the Civil Forces

1) Natural Disasters
2) Isolated outbreaks of serious diseases.
3) Serious rioting
4) Violent social/sectarian/politica/seperatist events
4) Any situation where anarchy occurs due to the above factors

The Armed Forces may only use 'light' weapons already employed by the Civil Forces.

MessageWe can support as long as the army have to use the same sort of weapons as the police force in such circumstances, rahter than military grade weapons (otherwise a loophole is created in that law).

MessageThe AAP believes (Unfortunately, as we would have LIKED to be able to back this measure) that the police and military MUST be kept separate, or risk being turned into a military-police-state.
