Message | Complete support for this proposal, freedom can only exist where mandatory service does not. We oppose any draft or mandatory national service. |

Message | DSP is correct. "Civilian national services" are non-military. OOC: We have a civilian national service in Canada too called Katimavik. It is volunteering in the local community and a learning program that focuses on protecting the environment, national unity, cultural diversity and leadership. Ironically the current government wanted to pull the plug on the program because we need to brace for the effect of the American economy going down the gutter but instead, they approved funding for an additional year. I personally like it. In Quebec, all students have to volunteer for a semester about 15 hours per week to learn the same ideals as in the federal civilian national service. I did it and you feel good about helping others (I helped seniors). |

Message | OOC: It's true. You have to volunteer at an approved location. Or else the teachers have to fail you. The students have to listen to a Ms. Hitler's orders or else they give you a bad report and you fail. And if you fail, you have to do it all over again! No! =D Vive le Qubec! Vive la libert! Libert? Who am I kidding?!?! =D |
