Bill: Divorce Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: People's Radical Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 2543

Description[?]:

As a result of the permissive society which has been allowed to function in fair Gishoto for many years, we have an ever-growing number of divorces, and thus children growing up without a stable family. We submit, therefore, that divorce should be harder to achieve - thus forcing more serious reflection on those considering marriage and bringing children into the world.

MessageDivorses are not neccissarily with families who have children. Marriage in a non-religious society is essencially just another form of consumation of love, if this love is not present, the marriage should not continue.

MessageWhile we are sympathetic to the viewpoint that children are not always involved in a broken marriage, we feel that it is important to be strong on this issue in order to prevent any risk at all to them.

MessageChildren are perfectly capable of developing fully under the care of one parent, I'm sure this is an experience many can identify with.
