Patients have the right to try and punish those doctors who have failed them. Allowing doctors to judge their own is a dangerious idea, after all who watches the watchmen? Good doctors will have nothing to fear from this bill, while stronger punishments for poor preformance provide an incentive for doctors to improve the standards of their care. |

Message | This bill will raise health costs in Sekowo. It MIGHT increase health care quality, but not necessarily. What will happen is that many patients will sue for real, imagined, or invented wrongs they perceive from doctors. Win or lose, these law suits will cost doctors quite a bit. Doctors will have to purchase very expensive malpractice insurance. They will then need to charge their patients more to cover increased costs. We don't think this is such a good idea, to raise the costs of an already expensive kind of care. |

Message | The CP would like a system between the two options. A limited lawsuit that would be supervised by the medical regulatory board as to not let an escalation in costs and lost of confidence (say in a false accusation) occur. However, if the specifics had been detailed in this bill as to what can be considered "malpractice", the CP might have consider voting "yes". For the time being, the CP prefers individuals file complaints with the medical regulatory board and the board takes the action thereafter. |
