Message | If local governments wish to have waste disposal done by private companies, then they should be able to. If, instead, they wish for it to be done by a state agency, then they should also be allowed that. All the waste will be dealt with within their borders anyway. It stands to reason they should be able to regulate it. |

Message | Opposed, this gives the local govt. the ability to opt in or out of the current policy. |

Message | That's what we want, we want them to be able to choose whether to leave it to the private sector, or to bring it into the state sector, or perhaps something in between that the national government cannot do. |

Message | Or how about none at all JUP! That is what this bill also leaves open. Opposed. |

Message | Yes, that is their prerogative, however, local governments are unlikely to allow individuals to leave their rubbish in the streets. They will naturally enact something to deal with it. |

Message | We are in favor of some devolution, but we support the current policy and see it as best. |
Date | 15:48:44, March 13, 2008 CET | From | Patriot Party | To | Debating the Waste (Disposal) Devolution Act |
Message | I guess people are going to have to walk around with close pins if the local governments do nothing about disposal which they might do to save money. |
