Bill: Health Services Reform (Privatisation) Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: United Liberal Alliance
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 2110
Description[?]:
This bill will see health service provision contracted out to private sector organisations who have much greater funding potential to provide the best health services for our people. However, this act will also create the Telamon Health Agency (THA) to provide oversight of these organisations and to provide subsidies to pay for the health of those who cannot afford to pay themselves. Therefore, it will ensure that healthcare is affordable for all and for the poorest of society, treatment and health at any medical establishment will still be free. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Health care policy.
Old value:: There is a free public health care system and a small number of private clinics, which are heavily regulated to ensure they treat their patients well and provide good care.
Current: Health care is entirely public and free; private clinics are banned.
Proposed: Health care is private, but is paid for by the state for people with low incomes.

Message | What if a middle income family has a member who needs a tumor removed ($100 000 CDN)? What about intensive care stays ($5000 CDN/day)? AIDS drugs ($15000 CDN/year)? A private system will ensure that those who can afford it get the best treatment, while the majority of the population is on waiting lists and suffering unnecessarily. |

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass. |
