Bill: RP - Semi-autonomy for Kuratha

Details

Submitted by[?]: Republican Coalition

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 2548

Description[?]:

For the past decade RSF and TJU control over Kuratha, particularity the cities of Anderinch and Thague placed it at odds with the ruling religious parties and caused the riots of recent years.

The TJU proposes that semi-autonomy is granted this rogue province, which has a dominant Hulstrian and Aneist population, to restrict such future near-violence, which was only prevented by Aneist seizure of Thague and a similar situation with the RSF-Aneist coalition in Anderinch. Already there are several autonomous gated communities of Aneists in these cities, and we have no doubt that the crownland could function under its own ability to rule to some extent. The TJU propses the following:

In terms of civil rights, policing, and religion Kuratha is completely autonomous. The elected leader of Kuratha, appointed by the majority party (or majority coalition, presently the CSC) of the area holds more power then those of other regions, but not as much power as the Archon and Head of Government.

In terms of all other areas Kuratha functions as part of the nation.

MessageIf the central government cannot control the province when the administrations of both are the the same, the solution is not to grant the province more autonomy.

MessageIf the TJU can't bring a TJU-run Crownland to heel while in government, something is rotten in the state of Hulstria.

MessageYou forget, it was the KHP who ran the government at the time of the riots, they also ran the military. The TJU endorsed the protests, we had nothing to bring to heel. The RSF also joined the protests, and they controlled the other major ministries. It was the KHP and CCP, who controlled the crownland of Hulstria and so the state, who were unable to prevent violence.

MessageBring them to heel? Against what? They gained what they wanted, a secular nation. We simply propose Semi-autonomy so that this does not happen again.
