Bill: Budget proposal of December 2549

Details

Submitted by[?]: Conservative Ordo Malleus (COM)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 2550

Description[?]:

The Conservative Adeptus Mechanicus (CAM) propose to adjust the government's spending budget to better address the economic and social situation of the Republic of Telamon.

This bill provides for a small increase in the Ministry of Defense's budget, which allows us to better maintain our position of non-aggression in the region.

MessageEducation is very important to our nation. This proposal only slightly reduces the education budget from the prior budget, the last one created by CAM, and keeps it in the general vicinity.

This is a temporary budget that can be reversed when necessary. Also, this is to help fund Telamon's capability to defend itself. We are adamant about our non-aggression stance.

MessageI believe we should strip the budget right back, in order to cut taxes.
Our party proposes a new public infrastructure programme based on the back of loans, which will draw 60,000 unemployed men and women off the dole for two years and into employment. With the jobs created, this will have a 'multiplier effect' in which they will be able to pay taxes to repay the initial loans. This will allow us to cut income tax, to allow the electorate more money to finance the economy.

This budget is therefore incompatible with our vision of the future.

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass.
