Bill: OOC Ethnic Makeup of Telamon
Details
Submitted by[?]: Conservative Ordo Malleus (COM)
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 2552
Description[?]:
This is an OOC bill for us to discuss and decide on the ethnic makeup of Telamon. I read awhile back that Telamon has an Anglo-Saxon background (someone was making Arabic characters for their party). After discussion on the issue we vote to officially adopt the United Kingdom as Telamon's real world counterpart. We will use the UK as an example of Telamon's ethnicity, military power, and governmental organization (excluding the monarchy) along with all other issues that show in the game. |

Message | OOC: My party has a Slavic background and we want to imagine Telamon as a religious Orthodox country. |

Message | I imagine Telamon being a nation much like England, but post-WWI. My Radical Party is based on the Liberal Party of David Lloyd George around 1926. |

Message | I appreciate the infusion of the RRP's slavic heritage, which I am guessing is based on the RRP's player's background. Although I may be mistaken on that estimation. However, I have read that Telamon has a strong Anglo-Saxon background and anything other than that is unlikely to exist as a majority in Telamon at that time. Based on the strong Anglo-Saxon background I have conjectured that a comparison to England is most likely. But, I believe there are other nations with strong Anglo-Saxon heritages we can identify Telamon with. Are we comfortable with choosing England as the real world Telamon? Here is a link: https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/uk.html to the CIA World Factbook's United Kingdom entry. It shows, when you click on People at the top, that 92.1% of England (well the UK really) has an ethnic background of White. That includes the Irish, Welsh, and Scots. Coming in 2nd is Black at 2%. Third goes to Indian at 1.8% and Other covers 1.6% (I see the slavic RRP fitting in there). Pakistani, interestingly enough, sits at 1.3%. Moving on to religion the World Factbook shows Christianity at #1 with 71.6%. I believe we can conclude an overwhelmingly majority of that to be Anglican with Catholicism in the top 3 Christian sects. #2 overall is No Religion at 23.1%. #3 is Muslim at 2.7% and Hindu at #4 with 2%. To me, this jives with what I've seen about Telamon's past. Unfortunately, I've only been in Telamon since July 2492 game time. Has anyone been in Telamon prior to that? |

Message | OOC> Yes, you are right. I just wish that Telamon could be what I wrote, but, unfortunately, it isn't. |

Message | I see no reason why a small, but growing, slavic community can't exist in Telamon. I also think such a thing jives, or fits in, perfectly with the RRP's background. There's a famous quote by Margaret Mead that best describes the RRP. "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has" |

Message | The Republican Party is based of the United States premise of conseratism. My party also has a strong Slavic background, which would be because of my decent. We also have strong German and English following. Our party has many different decents that are infused togeather to make a strong party that will be in Telamon for many years to come. |

Message | Nicely said both RP and CAM. @RP> From which Slavic nation are you a descendant? |

Message | My decendants are from the fromer Yugslavia, with the break up of the former Yugslavia. My decendects are from Serbia and Croatia. RRP from what Slavic nation or nations are you a decendent from? |

Message | I have a strong background from Germany, Italy, and Portugal with secondaries from Ireland and Wales, and a tertiary for Africa (although you'd never know it looking at me). What can we agree on for Telamon's ethnic makeup? Can we agree on England as its real world cousin? Or, is another nation better suited based on the massive information already existing about Telamon? I'm quite curious about this. |

Message | @RP>> Me too, I am, you could say, half-Montenegrin half-Serbian but I prefer calling myself Serbian. Yes, England could be Telamon's cousin but we mustn't have a monarch. |

Message | If we are all in agreement on this I shall move this forward to a vote on formally, out of character, accepting England/United Kingdom as Telamon's real world counterpart that we will emulate in regards to ethnicity and other areas suitable to the Particracy game. |

Message | I believe we are all in agreement and should move forward this resolution to vote. |
