Bill: Child Education Improvement Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Autonomist Party of Solentia

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 2550

Description[?]:

The Child Education Improvement Act has certain measures within that would further the balance of good hard working youths in our society. Currently those who are ready and willing to work are disallowed based solely on their age, which is a clear violation of our constitution and the morals of our entire civilization.

We also feel that by allowing local governments, the real people in our society, to control simple matters such as corporal punishment we will further seperate the government from the simple man and allow people a better free living life. It is our own personal opinion that corporal punishment in schools is a great disciplinary measure, but respect that some feel it is not the schools place to handle such matters.

MessageRespectfully,

We would first like to welcome the Autocratic Nationalist Front to Solentian politics. It is nice to see another fresh face among us.

As it stands, unfortunately, the United Democratic Party cannot support this bill.

First of all, we are not quite sure of the implications of Article 1. Could you please define for us the term "child labor?" We are not sure if this legislation implies that actually children would be put to work, or that minors under the age of 18 (but 15 or older) would be allowed to work. Even if the question is answered and we are relieved to discover that you are referring to the latter, the article MUST be more precise for us to support it.

Regarding Article 2: The United Democratic Party does not support corporal punishment in any form.

Respectfully,
Director of Education and Culture, Roberta Burke
Party Chairman, President Hillary Rodham

MessageFrom the Desk of Roberta Burke, Director of Education and Culture:

It has been brought to our attention that the current law prohibits minors between the ages of 15 and 17 from working. Naturally, the United Democratic Party does not support the current law. We firmly believe that, with parental consent, minors OF A CERTAIN AGE should be allowed to obtain jobs.

However, Article 1 remains too vague and we are still against Article 2.

We seek to address the issue of minors working in the immediate future.

Signed,
Director of Education and Culture, Roberta Burke
