Bill: Towards the future, the strenght of our nation!
Details
Submitted by[?]: Progressive Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2558
Description[?]:
We propose that the military capabilities of Lourenne receive a boost. Currently our Land Army and Air Force are enough for any military campaign we might search to follow. We are however severely lacking in our Naval abilities. Therefore we propose the commission of three new carriers to complement the already existing fleet. In addition escorts and attack submarines will be build so that if needed Lourenne can deploy up to three CVBGs in times of war. OOC: In essence doubling the number of carriers we have since I assume Lourenne has three of them. It means that in peace time we'll have not one, but two out there projecting force. |

Message | Short Summary of Lourenne's Blue Water capabilities at present. 3 x Carriers. 6 x Guided Missile Cruisers. 9 x Guided Missile Destroyers. 6 x Attack Submarines. 3 x SSBNs. 3 x Supply Ships. Looks like a lot, but in truth only a third of those abilities are deployed at any given time, the numbers reaching 50% in times of war only and if we're really desperate, 100%, but that involves no fleet for months afterwards. In addition there's a number of Corvettes, Frigates and SSKs that are tasked with the protection of Lourenne's shores. Remember though that this build up took over a certain amount of time and we'd reach 6 carriers only in ten years at best if we really pump money into this or more probable 15~20 years if we go around it the normal way, especially given the fact that we have an economy to worry about and a land military to take into account. |

Message | We strongly oppose. We don’t need more war equipment. We should invest the tax payer’s money in more valuable and needed things. This is a complete waste of money. |

Message | "We ask of the Lourenne Green Party if we should be investing in body bags? After all, we'll need them once our navy gets destroyed and our homeland invaded by the next megalomaniac would be invader." - Herbert Patton Jr. |

Message | We support. Lourenne needs to end being a post-colonial minor country at the mercy of the will of the powerful, and to start pursuing foreign military policies on its own. |

Random fact: When your party holds the foreign affairs department, you can create new treaties. However, before writing anything new, it is a good idea to search for existing treaties which already accomplish what you desire. |
