Bill: Forest Protection Act of 2551
Details
Submitted by[?]: Kirlawan People's Justice Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2551
Description[?]:
We don't expect this to pass, especially since the DFM and LLH are so strong at the moment (although we would be very pleased and grateful if it did). However, our party has been inaccurately and inexplicably assessed as "skeptic-leaning" on environmental issues for a while now, which might be part of why we've been faring so lamentably poorly in recent elections. :( Introducing this bill might help with that, in addition to helping our forests if it does pass. Out of all ten possible positions along the environmental spectrum, "skeptic-leaning" is the least popular one among Kirlawan voters http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/viewopinions.php?nationid=4#ECO and we hope to demonstrate that we are considerably more eco-friendly. |

Message | Don't you think this is overdone ? Protecting forests is ok but not allowing any logging activity is ludicrous. Besides, quite a number of people will become unemployed because of this. Don't they belong to your electorate ? |

Message | We are not into buying votes through jobs. We know that the right will often try to smear the left as creating a 'client-base' for electoral gain, but we are not (quite) that cynical. The great Kirlawan forests have been victim to several great periods of felling, and will take generations to restore, and this measure will hasten that day. It will also provide a decent 'carbon-sink'. |

Message | Touching a tender spot there ? We are not saying that every tree has to be chopped. The DFM do believe that keeping a sound logging industry should be possible, like in the current situation. If logging is isn't desired in certain area's no license will be issued. There is no reason to change the current legislation. |
