Bill: Privacy of Personal Affairs Bill
Details
Submitted by[?]: Radical Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2555
Description[?]:
While the Radical Party supports a policy of 'responsible liberty', combining the positives of both liberty and moral regulation, we believe strongly in the rights of the individual over his or her own body. We therefore find the government's position towards marriage and sexual relations archaic, austere, and invasive. We therefore propose: -Legislation in place that allows local governments the power to define a 'civil marriage'. This is not a promotion of homosexuality, but merely a devolving of power over the most personal affairs of our electorate. Each state deserves the right to decide its own stance towards civil marriages, and how they define them. -Sexual relations should be recognised for all consenting adults, no matter the sexual orientation. A policy that defines sex merely for 'procreation' is both archaic and out of touch with the modern day electorate. In a nation that permits interracial sexual relations, this is no great step forward. |
