Message | Why is it at all the case that a person is criminalised for merely being? Just because they aren't carrying a card doesn't mean they deserve to be punished. And yet that is exactly what we're doing. It is wrong, and nothing but a symptom of an overbearing state. |
Date | 03:01:37, March 30, 2008 CET | From | Tuatha Dé Danann | To | Debating the Citizenship (Identity Card) Amendment Act |
Message | Oppose. |
Date | 05:50:11, March 30, 2008 CET | From | Tukarali Democratic Party | To | Debating the Citizenship (Identity Card) Amendment Act |
Message | We are going to oppose as well. We feel the need that citizens have to be able to identify themself all time. |
Date | 05:55:43, March 30, 2008 CET | From | Judicial Union Party | To | Debating the Citizenship (Identity Card) Amendment Act |
Message | But why would you need that? Why does the state need to know who a person is when they're just in their own house? Why does the state need to know who a person is when they're buying groceries? And then if they cannot, we punish them. We punish people just for not proving to some authority who they are. That sounds rather totalitarian. |
Date | 17:06:19, March 30, 2008 CET | From | Patriot Party | To | Debating the Citizenship (Identity Card) Amendment Act |
Message | We'll oppose this. Safety is upmost and if someone is not carrying an identification card, how are we supposed to know who they are? |
Date | 17:10:43, March 30, 2008 CET | From | Tukarali Democratic Party | To | Debating the Citizenship (Identity Card) Amendment Act |
Message | Why does the state need to know who a person is? The state does not need to know that. What makes you think that? You are making this a totalitarian idea. |
Date | 19:30:00, March 30, 2008 CET | From | Rightist Party | To | Debating the Citizenship (Identity Card) Amendment Act |
Message | Bullshit she is. If a person is hurt, how are we to know who that person is? Or better yet, if a person dies in an accident, how is the next of kin supposed to be contacted if we do not know who the person is? |
Date | 22:45:50, March 30, 2008 CET | From | Judicial Union Party | To | Debating the Citizenship (Identity Card) Amendment Act |
Message | We don't need to know who someone is, that is the point. A person can be identified without carrying a card, in the case of an accident. |
Date | 23:19:45, March 30, 2008 CET | From | Rightist Party | To | Debating the Citizenship (Identity Card) Amendment Act |
Message | And just how is that supposed to occur? JUP? You really are out of your element here. Do all of us a favor and learn a thing or two about public safety. |
Date | 23:26:58, March 30, 2008 CET | From | Judicial Union Party | To | Debating the Citizenship (Identity Card) Amendment Act |
Message | Curtailing individual liberties in favour of "public safety" is rarely a good thing, and certainly is not in this case. |
Date | 23:34:20, March 30, 2008 CET | From | Rightist Party | To | Debating the Citizenship (Identity Card) Amendment Act |
Message | Answer my fucking question! |
Date | 23:35:59, March 30, 2008 CET | From | Judicial Union Party | To | Debating the Citizenship (Identity Card) Amendment Act |
Message | Ah, how about the family looks at the injured? How about DNA tests and dental records? Don't be stupid, there are myriad ways. |
Date | 23:38:01, March 30, 2008 CET | From | Rightist Party | To | Debating the Citizenship (Identity Card) Amendment Act |
Message | And what if their DNA records are not on file? What if the Family does not know the person is injured? Dental records only come in handy if there is not much left to identify the victim. Don't be stupid JUP! We all know you do not care at all for the safety of the people. |
Date | 08:08:45, March 31, 2008 CET | From | Judicial Union Party | To | Debating the Citizenship (Identity Card) Amendment Act |

Date | 00:05:31, April 01, 2008 CET | From | Judicial Union Party | To | Debating the Citizenship (Identity Card) Amendment Act |
Message | This isn't about safety, this is about an overbearing government keeping track of whatever its citizens are doing. |
Date | 00:14:12, April 01, 2008 CET | From | Patriot Party | To | Debating the Citizenship (Identity Card) Amendment Act |
Message | This is indeed about safety. I hate conspiracy theories but give it a rest. The government isn't keeping track of what our citizens are doing JUP! That's stupid. |

Date | 13:06:33, April 01, 2008 CET | From | Rightist Party | To | Debating the Citizenship (Identity Card) Amendment Act |
