Bill: Lowering of Luxury Tax

Details

Submitted by[?]: GUBA Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 2555

Description[?]:

Article 1 will lower the tax on Luxury Goods. I see no reason why luxury goods should be taxed at a higher rate than we do corporate profits. We are running a surplus, as is, and could do for an uptick in consumption that this would generate.

MessageI would rather see us spend the surplus on goods and services, as well as R&D and enviromental issues.

There are not many complaints from the people currently regarding the luxury tax, but if the need ever arises that we must raise it, there will surely be an uproar.

MessageOOC: It's probably partly because of game mechanics. Some ways of taxation are less useful than others, and Corporate Taxes are by far the worst way to tax game wise

IC: We'll support anyways though, since lowering taxation is always great

And in response to the PP:

Since there is such a large surplus, we feel as though it is better to lower taxes. Spending is already fairly high, we do not need any other raises in the budget. And since there is such a large surplus, we mine as well lower taxation to give the people more money to spend on what they want

Random fact: In Culturally Protected nations, it is the responsibility of players to ensure the candidate boxes on their Party Overview screens are filled in with appropriate names. If a player is allotted seats in a Cabinet bill and has not filled in names for the relevant candidate position, then the program will automatically fill in the positions with names which might not necessarily be appropriate for the Cultural Protocols.
