Bill: No subsidising Contraception
Details
Submitted by[?]: Freedom Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2111
Description[?]:
Why are we forcing Rutanian taxpayers to subsidise people to have sex? Half the money saved from this abolition of subsidies will go into an STD awareness programme, the other half will go back to Rutanian taxpayers who deserve their money. They can either spend it on condoms/contraception or not. Another reason for this bill is due to the Freedom Party's love for the free market! |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Government policy on subsidising contraception.
Old value:: The government subsidises a considerable discount for contraceptives.
Current: The government offers free contraceptives in pharmacies and public toilets.
Proposed: The government does not supply free or discounted contraceptives.

Message | Did it occur to you that this is also about people who don't pay taxes yet! A vote for this is a vote for furthering the spread of HIV/AIDS! |

Message | To be honest, a condom costs about 50p to make. I dont see any pressing need for them to be subsidised. Aye. |

Message | But for the poor, every cent they can spare matters. ;-) Besides, there are other contraceptives which tend to be more expensive as well. You're just saying "if they can't afford contraceptives, that's too bad for them but we should just let them get Aids and die." |

Message | Subsidising a product interferes with the free market. You just demonstrated not only your complete lack of knowledge about the free market but also about economics. Thanks for proving my point that i made on the forum |

Message | "So the poor cant afford to spend fifty pence on a condom? Err... no." Indeed, they cannot. For the poor every cent matters and can make the difference between a meal or hunger. "Subsidising a product interferes with the free market." *cough*Bullshit*cough* "You just demonstrated not only your complete lack of knowledge about the free market but also about economics." My honourable friend, Capitalism is just as utopian as Communism. It all depends on the functioning of the "Invisible Hand", which is not perfect. |

Message | "Indeed, they cannot. For the poor every cent matters and can make the difference between a meal or hunger." Considering that working in even the lowest paid jobs you can make 50p in about 15 minutes, you may want to review that statement. |
