MessageThough we understand the reasoning for this bill, we will not support it. Having government funding of any product only encourages distributors to charge more. Though the same thing occurs whenever the majority of the population has insurance, that is the choice of the populace rather than the government. Were this combined with the drug price cap bill it might be more effective, though were that to happen we would not support it as it would be government control of an industry. We suppose that this is yet another example of our party disliking a growing government. That does not, however, change our votes.

MessageThis bill was, indeed, intended as a companion piece to the price caps currently proposed by the IPS.

We support his bill.
But we want to have in the records: Don't spend all surplus at once.

MessageTrue to that. We shall refrain from proposing more social programmes until we see the effect this round of bills has upon the budget. But for now? Let's vote!
