Bill: Eminent Domain Compensation Improvement Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Royal Socialist Party of Hulstria

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2556

Description[?]:

With the passing of the recent Eminent Domain bill, we at the RSP find that an improvement to the compensation victims receive is needed.

The government's compensation can be unfair to the victim, and the current law doesn't even allow the victim to appeal.

MessageAllowing the "victim" (an unfortunately loaded term) to set the compensation swings the equation far too far in the opposite direction. A third party should determine compensation, much as is the case for the execution of Eminent Domain in the first place.
Either that or - the path of least change - the government's decision can be appealed. As it stands, however, an ombudsman already exists.

MessageI agree with the PRP. We should allow a third party to choose the compensation.

Having the "victim" do it is unreasonable.

Random fact: When it comes to creating a Cultural Protocol in a Culturally Open nation, players are not necessarily required to provide a plausible backstory for how the nation's cultural background developed. However, the provision of a plausible backstory may be a factor in whether Moderation approves the Cultural Protocol if players in surrounding nations question its appropriateness for their region of the game map.

Random quote: "Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man gainst his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American...[T]he unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people." - Tenche Coxe
