Bill: Anarch Anakrousite Reform Bill - Right to Gather

Details

Submitted by[?]: Commonwealth Workers Army

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 2112

Description[?]:

The Anarch Anakrousite party believes that fundamental rights are being infringed, in the governmental institution of legislation that forbids persons the right to legal assembly.

We suggest that this unjust law be repealed.

Note: EXPLICIT in the language of this bill, is the allowance for the police to disperse groups WHERE there is EVIDENCE of public safety risk.

MessageAs always we support this upholding of liberty. This issue has pingponged back and forth for years and years, I wouldn't blame both police and protesters for being thoroughly confused about their rights by now!

MessageIndeed, and the AAP intends to keep championing this issue (as well as all those other 'civil liberty issues' that we consistently push), UNTIL justice is served.

We thank the LPE for their support.

Messagei am voting against as the current system works just fine. there are plenty of situations where your proposed system can turn into violence and people being injured or worse. the current system allows people to gather freely but if they pose a risk to public safety then the peoples right to feel safe is more important.

MessageResponse to the FCoL: The AAP utterly disagrees, and is surprised to see the FCoL endorsing what equates to a martial-law state. The proposed sytem cannot 'turn into violence' because the language of the Bill explicitly makes it clear that the police CAN disrupt a gathering where there is ACTUAL risk.

At the moment, they just have to be able to argue that THEY 'believe' there MIGHT be risk.

The current system allows people to gather freely IF the police allow it. And, a police contingent doesn't even have to present probable cause to break up a rally.

The AAP is particularly drawn to this issue, since early AAP rallies were broken up by Likatonian Peace-officers, who 'thought' there 'might' be some possible 'risk' to such a gathering.

MessageThe LPE also has personal experience, as the older parties present will remember. Because our members were pro abortion, the then consul decided that we posed a risk to the safety of citizens (unborn), and gave orders to have our party dispersed. Thankfully we managed to repeal the law before he took police action, though we did have a few nasty days besieged in the senate house.

MessageThe AAP is always saddened by such stories, and it is for those exact reasons that we see need to have this unjust law repealed.
