From | Kundrati Revolutionary Movement | To | Debating the End Compulsory Patriotism | Message | We should probably jump in here before anyone starts claiming otherwise to point out that this does not ban the singing of the national anthem. You can play it every day for all we care. But we must not allow even the threat of punishment for not singing the national anthem to be expressed in our laws. |

From | | To | Debating the End Compulsory Patriotism | Message | Sure MfM, but kids must be punished if they don't attend sex ed, or go to school. |

From | Kundrati Revolutionary Movement | To | Debating the End Compulsory Patriotism | Message | The kinds of things that schools are required to teach classes on is a completely different kind of question than the ability to punish people for not participating in patriotic rituals. One imparts knowledge, the other tries to enforce nationalism. And we seem to recall being the only party to vote against the Education Reform Act, the Longer Education Act, and the Public Schools act - though we are sure our friends in the FMP would have voted with us on the first one had they existed at the time. So don't go trying to claim that we are in favor of punishing kids who don't attend state-run schools. |

From | Free Market Party | To | Debating the End Compulsory Patriotism | Message | We voted against the Longer Education Act and the Public Schools act, and the MfM is correct: we would have also voted against the Education Reform Act. As would be expected, we support the proposed bill and will vote for it if it goes to the Senate floor. |

From | | To | Debating the End Compulsory Patriotism | Message | @MfM: What about Sex ed? YOu seem to simply forgot how you voted on it. Or who proposed it. |

From | Union of Work-Shy Elements | To | Debating the End Compulsory Patriotism | Message | At school I was never forced to sing the national anthem. Does that make me any less patriotic than the average person? No, certainly not. I also don't believe children that are forced/made to sing will become any more patriotic than those that are not forced/made to sing |

From | | To | Debating the End Compulsory Patriotism | Message | What about national anthem? Kids HAVE to go to math class, don't they? So what? |

From | | To | Debating the End Compulsory Patriotism | Message | I propose an ammendment. The national anthem must be played, and respected by the students, but you do not have to sing if you do not want to. |

From | | To | Debating the End Compulsory Patriotism | Message | Why would anyone not want to sing the anthem?? Anyhow, I could agree with you, but this bill is simply too extreme. |
