Bill: Curfew Act of 2112
Details
Submitted by[?]: Totalitarian Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2113
Description[?]:
A recent poll shows that 54% of our nation's citizens support curfews in some form or another[1]. We realise this is not a significant majority, but we feel that the results show that in some states, citizens feel curfews may be necessary. We propose local governments be given the power to establish curfews when they feel they are necessary. Curfews are subject to the following regulations: - Curfew time must not be before 11:00 P.M. - Curfews may only be established in areas of high crime. - If established, the curfew must be formally reviewed annually. If it is found to be no longer necessary, the curfew must be removed. [1] http://82.238.75.178:8085/particracy/main/viewnews.php?newsid=7761&nation=23 |

Message | We will not vote for this. The wish of the majority should not oppress the minority. |
Date | 06:48:08, September 17, 2005 CET | From | Totalitarian Party | To | Debating the Curfew Act of 2112 |
Message | We feel the majority represents citizens from areas where curfews are needed to curb crime. Citizens who reside in safe areas see no need for curfews. The needs of those in these dangerous areas should not be ignored. Perhaps if we added criteria that must be met before the local governments can establish curfews you would support? Examples - Curfew time must not be before 11:00 P.M. - Curfews may only be established in areas of high crime. We propose this legislation not to oppress our nation's citizens, but to keep them safe. |
Date | 09:08:09, September 17, 2005 CET | From | Democratic Centre Party of Gaduridos | To | Debating the Curfew Act of 2112 |
Message | We have long felt local governments should have a limited power to impose curfews. I think the two clauses you suggested make sense. I would also add that local governments should be required to formally review their curfew time and law, if they have one, at least once every year to see if it is still needed. |
Date | 09:42:36, September 17, 2005 CET | From | Totalitarian Party | To | Debating the Curfew Act of 2112 |
Message | Curfew regulations added. |
Date | 19:24:25, September 17, 2005 CET | From | National Libertarian Party | To | Debating the Curfew Act of 2112 |
Message | The government does not have the right to enforce this on the people. The government should have the same rights of the individual. |
Date | 19:34:01, September 17, 2005 CET | From | Totalitarian Party | To | Debating the Curfew Act of 2112 |
Message | You propsed the government, yourself specifically, considering your party holds both the Philosophership and the defence minister position, be given the power to invade another nation. Should we give this right to our citizens, as well? |
Date | 23:10:43, September 17, 2005 CET | From | National Libertarian Party | To | Debating the Curfew Act of 2112 |
Message | The only real responsibility of the government is to protect the individual without hampering the rights of that individual. If protection requires the limiting of civil rights, it is not worth the protection. |
Date | 00:24:01, September 18, 2005 CET | From | Gaduridos National Party | To | Debating the Curfew Act of 2112 |
Message | The GNP will vote no. The 54% who want a curfew can make their own cufew, the other 44% should not be imprisoned in their own homes. |
