Message | Wouldn't Emir be better if we were going to do this? OOC: Also, it's less boring for the HoS and HoG to be held by different parties. |
Date | 19:03:41, April 23, 2008 CET | From | Judiciary Patriciate Coalition | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | I changed from Emirate. Besides, Emir is the leader of an Emirate, not a collection of them OOC: Why? The HoS has no other powers |
Date | 19:07:12, April 23, 2008 CET | From | Kafuri Socialist Party | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | Ok, I thought you were done. OOC: Because it gives us another cabinet position we can argue over and because HoS and HoG support is needed for a war declaration according to the Rildanor Accords. |
Date | 19:12:19, April 23, 2008 CET | From | Judiciary Patriciate Coalition | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | OOC: Ok I'll remove it and find a new name for HoG |
Date | 00:35:40, April 24, 2008 CET | From | Royalist Party of Islam | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | Very good. I would perhaps consider leaving the regions as Emirates, because we are the United Emirates of Kafuristan, but the RPI would vote yes on this if it came to a vote. OOC: Are you using real Arabic for this, by the way, or just 'Arabic sounding' words? |
Date | 09:27:33, April 24, 2008 CET | From | Judiciary Patriciate Coalition | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | I'm changing the name for other reasons as well If the conflict with the nation's name is important then we can always change the nation's name OOC: Real Arabic, I was going to use Sha'biyah, but found out it was a Libyan-exclusive term |
Date | 13:25:52, April 24, 2008 CET | From | Aldurian Protectorate Party | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | This is a very good idea, and we will back. Although we ask that it isn't put to vote until after the next elections, so that our support has some value. |
Date | 14:02:31, April 24, 2008 CET | From | Aldurian Protectorate Party | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | Actually, this title was quite good "His most Wise and Judicious Excellency, Loyal Servant to Allah (May His Name Be Forever Blessed) the Most Holy, and Glorious Leader of the Five Emirs of Kafuristan, the Caliph" |
Date | 14:02:46, April 24, 2008 CET | From | Aldurian Protectorate Party | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | (for Head of State) |
Date | 14:45:34, April 24, 2008 CET | From | Liberal Urban Party | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | Definitely no; we have agreed to these terms multiple times. President and Minister or something similar in Arab. Kafuristan should have a democracy, which shall be directly controlled by the rich, not some unfair oligarchy or monarchy. |
Date | 15:55:55, April 24, 2008 CET | From | Aldurian Protectorate Party | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | We have Emirs? Or is that just a name? And we too stand in favour of democracy, but an elected Caliph is still democratic. |
Date | 18:31:36, April 24, 2008 CET | From | Kafuri Socialist Party | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | Wouldn't control by the rich be an oligarchy? |
Date | 18:44:23, April 24, 2008 CET | From | Liberal Urban Party | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | Nope; the rich are a part of the people. |
Date | 19:06:18, April 24, 2008 CET | From | Kafuri Socialist Party | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | How do you define oligarchy? |
Date | 19:08:22, April 24, 2008 CET | From | Liberal Urban Party | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | Few people, not a part of people. |
Date | 19:09:42, April 24, 2008 CET | From | Kafuri Socialist Party | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | What does "not part of people" men? |
Date | 19:10:39, April 24, 2008 CET | From | Liberal Urban Party | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | The rich represent a social class, while an oligarchy represents a form of government. |
Date | 19:12:40, April 24, 2008 CET | From | Kafuri Socialist Party | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | "a form of government in which all power is vested in a few persons or in a dominant class or clique; government by the few." That's what dictionary.com says. By that definition, rule by the rich (a class) would qualify as an oligarchy. |
Date | 19:16:20, April 24, 2008 CET | From | Liberal Urban Party | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | Either way, by democracy or oligarchy, the rich, as the dominant social class, continue to prevail and control the state. |
Date | 19:17:18, April 24, 2008 CET | From | Kafuri Socialist Party | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | The more you talk, the more I want to chase back to Jakania. Heh. |
Date | 19:18:12, April 24, 2008 CET | From | Liberal Urban Party | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | Annoying, ah? |
Date | 19:43:57, April 24, 2008 CET | From | Judiciary Patriciate Coalition | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | JUP: An Oligarchy is simply a state ruled by a smaller part of the people of the nation. As such restricting it to the rich, or to Arabs, or to the intellectuals, are all creations of an Oligarchy of sorts. The terms I chose are all ambiguous, 'Sheikh' is "wise man" or "elder" to paraphrase, and so perfect for head of state. Hakim is "judge, arbitrator, ruler or governor". |
Date | 12:00:09, April 26, 2008 CET | From | Aldurian Protectorate Party | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | With the LUP and RAF voting against this has already been defeated. However we support, as we would rather Arabic names be used. |
Date | 12:15:35, April 26, 2008 CET | From | Liberal Urban Party | To | Debating the JPC - Nomenclature Initiative |
Message | I would have supported if the regional name was not to be changed. We prefer Emirate. |
