Message | What if a company looking for a quick profit decides to fish as much as it can in a short period of time? When others see that this company is making money, they will join in. Soon after this, our seas will be free of fish. This isn't something that can regulate itself. When the fish are gone, we can't bring them back. Our fishing industry is of vital importance, especially to your home state. This regulation will prevent this industry from being destroyed. |

Message | 'What if a company looking for a quick profit decides to fish as much as it can in a short period of time? When others see that this company is making money, they will join in. Soon after this, our seas will be free of fish' there has to be a sufficient demand first |

Message | The fish need not be harvested all at once. If demand grows, many companies will begin over-fishing, likely creating a surplus of fish. While this will not deplete this resource all at once, it will significantly reduce the population. The next time demand for fish increases, it happens again. Slowly, the fish will disappear. If we wait until the fish population is getting low, the restrictions will only be harsher. |

Message | Although recently we have generally agreed with the NLP in their view of new regulations, in this specific case I think government intervention is need. This is an example of the "tragedy of the commons" problem that even conservative economists recognize as a legitimate reason for government involvement in the market. |
