Bill: Liberal Act of 2567

Details

Submitted by[?]: Progressive Liberal Party of Hulstria

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2569

Description[?]:

Dear member of the Imperial Diet,

Cooperations have enough of governments interacting with their management. They want, and any economist will reckon this, that cooperations are free to operate and the economy is left alone. When there will be none government regulations left, cooperations will have to fight for the consumer, making prices low. Let us not bore them with regulations paid for by our citizens, but let them be free, free to operate.

But some things cannot be left alone to the market, like police, because not everyone sees the need of police. Therefore we are asking the Imperial Diet to let the central government do this.

MessageWe condemn the PLPH for the arbitrary grouping of unrelated social and economic questions into a single Act. We support most of the proposals to liberalise the economy and remove unnecessary governmental interference in it (with some reservations on the question of casinos and gambling). However, most of the social reforms proposed under this Act are irresponsible and, frankly, repugnant to basic human conscience.

MessageThe Donners agree that this bill is overstuffed with proposals, but we agree with enough of them to vote yes.

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass.
